Today we…

In Language our class read some of the one and only Ivan. Then we learnt to synthesize about video games. Next the class worked on our persuasive letters.

In math the grade 6 where preparing for the math test and the grade 7 they learned that angle size stays the same when making the side lengths larger on a shape.

In gym we plated gaga ball and we also played lacrosse

We finished off the day with art. In art the class learnt to make finger print art.

Had French first (not sure what you guys did there).. this is Ms. Bruin writing.

During math: the grade 6′s- made models out of blocks and learned how to draw the front, top and side view of the model. The grade 7′s learned the rules for congruency – shapes that are the same size and shape.

Next, the grade 7′s did Geography – they watched some videos about climate change and how climate change is impacting weather. They completed an organizer to record notes and explain why this is important to us and our world. The grade 6′s completed an EQAO writing task, and had some time to finish up any unfinished Social Studies work.

During language, we read the book “The Stranger” and made a final inference based on the book. Next, we used the success criterial to give peer feedback for our persuasive letters (rough copies due tomorrow). A few students had a conference with Ms. Bruin about their letters too.

Today we…

French: Today in French, we talked about our favourite video games, and video game characters. We used that to create and present full French sentences.

Math: n grade 6 we learned about angles, and lines of symmetry, in geometric, 2-D shapes. We used venn diagrams to put shapes into categories, and then made to a parallelogram according to certain specifications. Our independent problem was a multiple choice question, ordering shapes by the number of parallel lines. In grade 7 we found angle bisectors and perpendicular bisectors for the different kinds of triangles. Tomorrow we will discuss the relationships we discovered.

Social Studies: We learned some more about exporting resources and what resources come from where in Canada. The grade 7′s worked on their travel destination geography projects.

Language: First, we read more of our class read aloud novel, The One and Only Ivan. We listed descriptive, unfamiliar, or favourite words, in a chart. We then worked on our , persuasive letters. After that, we had a finish up period for our literacy centers.

At the end of the day everyone was happy happy happy! We then wrote this! THE END

Today we….

French: Today in French class, we were working on a worksheet. We learned some new vocabulary.

Math: Today in math, we were playing a game using the Geometers Sketchpad program on the computer. It taught us how to create shapes with certain side length and angle sizes. We also did an independent problem that was similar to the game we played.

The grade 6’s did EQAO Practice: We learned how to properly answer short questions to texts in EQAO.

The grade 7’s went to the library to work on their geography travel destination power point presentations.

After recess, we had language. We read “The One and Only Ivan” and wrote down descriptive, unfamiliar and favourite words. After we wrote the rough drafts of our persuasive letters (some might come home soon to families J) We finished off the day outside for DPA playing river/bank and splish splash.
